Experimental Performance Evaluation of a PV-Powered Center-Pivot Irrigation System for a Three-Year Operation Period

High-power diesel-based or grid-connected irrigation systems are being replaced by battery-free, high-power stand-alone Photovoltaic Irrigation Systems (PVIS) that reduce energy costs up to 80% and for which no experimental performance data available. The operation of PVIS is affected various factors, some unrelated the quality PV system itself, generate losses affect their performance: vary with crop its period, intrinsic design, happen as a consequence behavior end-user. To better understand impact each type loss, traditional ratio was factorized. This paper provides community on battery-free 160 kWp PV-powered constant-pressure center-pivot system. analyzed over three years real operation, during ranged from 49.0 53.2%.
